InterOPERA attended the IET ACDC Conference in Amsterdam. The first day provided insight into several projects related to the deployment of DC in Europe. John Moore presented an overview of the InterOPERA project and Grant Dawson presented legal aspects around the cooperation required to deliver multivendor projects. Fitim Kryezi, Energinet and active contributor to InterOPERA presented the North Sea Island activity by Energinet, Andreas Saciak related activities of 50Hertz, TenneT and TransnetBW in Germany to Internet. Marjan Popov, TU Delft presented on HVDC developments and Ervin Spahic a Windgrid contributor to InterOPERA provide insights into the developments in the US. There were also parallel presentations on the progress of Aquila by SSEN and Hitachi.
All these presentations express the importance of interoperability, grid-forming in distributed generation grids and the de-risking of HVDC projects. There is also a strong economic push towards standardisation driven by the rising costs of equipment. All presentations stressed the need to bring InterOPERA to a successful conclusion.
